11/30/2007 in Weeks old strike continues in Tinseltown. ray anderson The three-week old writers' strike in Hollywood continues, as the writers have rejected the latest offer from the Hollywood executives and producers. The Writers Guild, according to VOA News, turned down a three-year deal that would have paid them $130 million above the current $1 billion that they currently make (that's collectively, not per individual...) according to the producers. The Writers Guild says that the offer would have only paid them $250 from a year's re-use of an hour long show on the Internet-not even half of what they receive from a network rerun. The union offered a counter proposal that would amount to a 3 percent raise in the writers' salaries over the next three years. The strike is having effects far and wide, as production on popular shows such as *24* has ceased, and networks scramble to fill their schedules with reality TV. HEY!! Maybe we can get a reality show based off the life and times of the Cabbage Patch doll in the Geico commercial!! Now that's entertainment!!
