The film, directed by Joe Wright, is modified from Ian McEwan's best-selling novel. Joe Wright -- have we seen this connection before? Yes we have, as Joe Wright also directed the film "Pride and Prejudice," staring Miss Knightley, winning her a 2006 Academy Award nomination. She is said to have quoted from ABC News that she "sobbed and sobbed and sobbed" once Mr. Wright sent her the script. Though the young actress is British, the role took her some practicing to get down the 1930s version of the British accent. The crew was wrapped up in 1930s-era British film to learn this evolved accent as well as some forgotten culture traits. Along with getting familiar with this culture, the crew, consisting of the actors, director and production team, also lived the era as they all accumulated into one big farmhouse.
