2/17/2008 in Showtime's hit show will start airing on CBS this Sunday, angering many parent groups because of its controversial plot. Mallory Groff *Dexter* makes its way to broadcast television a little earlier than planned. The Showtime hit was sure to be put in syndication sooner or later, but it came sooner because of the WGA strike. The show that revolves around a likeable serial killer created a lot of noise in parental groups that did not believe the show was appropriate. *The New York Times* reported that these groups felt that this show should never be on broadcast television, no matter how edited the cursing or gore is. The Parents Television Council is one group that said, "They intend to air material that effectively celebrates murder." The group encouraged its members to call their CBS affiliates and file complaints. In response to the complaints, CBS has pointed out that Dexter will be on at 10 p.m. and that the show will have a mature rating as well as be compatible with the V-chip. Showtime is under the CBS umbrella and had already recorded alternate dialogue and worked on getting the adult content to a minimum. Robert Greenblatt, the president of entertainment at Showtime, commented on the complaints about the show glorifying murder, by saying, "It's fiction. I think people will know that." Dexter will air its first season on CBS starting Sunday at 10 p.m. est.
