7/2/2008 Steve Ruback Grease has been extremely popular, largely in part to Hicks's performances. Taylor Hicks, the season five winner of the wildly popular reality program, *American Idol*, is currently playing Teen Angel in the Broadway performance of *Grease*. Though reviews for the musical have been far from positive, it has been an extremely strong commercial success thus far. The *New York Post* is reporting that Hicks's appearances have been worth an astounding $150,000 in extra ticket sales per week. The *American Idol* star's summer gig not only includes singing, but has also featured Hicks playing the harmonica on stage. In an interview conducted with Broadway.com, Hicks was asked whether or not he was enjoying his first taste of performing on Broadway. Hicks displayed his exuberance over the opportunity by saying, "I love it! I think the part suits me perfectly, and it allows me to get a toe wet on Broadway. It's a great way for me to start exploring the idea of an acting career and learn what Broadway is all about." The *American Idol* winner debuted as Teen Angel on Broadway back on June 6 and will continue playing the role throughout the summer.
