1/19/2009 in Push and Mariah Carey debuted at the Sundance Film Festival this past weekend and left a good impression. Shaina Wizov Mariah Carey takes on the silver screen once again, this time in a role not at all like her character in 2001's *Glitter*. Carey plays the part of a welfare worker, named Mrs. Weiss, in *Push*, which made its debut at Sundance this past weekend. It's the story of 16-year-old Precious Jones, a girl impregnated by her father and beaten by her mother, based on a *New York Times* best seller by Ramona Lofton and directed by Lee Daniels. Early reviews by *Daily Variety* have been positive, according to *TopNews*, calling Carey one of the movie's "many delightful surprises." Lenny Kravitz also appears as a nurse's aide who helps deliver one of the protagonist's children. "Mrs. Weiss is sort of the eyes of the audience, the people who don't know anybody like \[Precious\] in their lives," Carey told reporters at *TopNews*. Mrs. Weiss may not be a large role, but it is a significant one.
