1/29/2009 in Paris Hilton discusses her ditzy image in an interview with a British TV show. Alistair Dickinson Not everything seen on reality television is necessarily real. This is something that many a TV junkie of the new millennium will assert, and now one of the genre's biggest stars is agreeing with them. Heiress Paris Hilton was the star of one of broadcast television's biggest reality shows, "The Simple Life," for five seasons, during which time the program received almost constant criticism for containing what many believed to be artificially-created situations and scripted conversations. In a new interview with British morning show GMTV, Hilton confirms that one aspect of "The Simple Life" was definitely a total act; the 27-year-old blonde insists that, despite her ditzy image on the show, she is far from stupid. "For five seasons I was stuck doing this character," she complains, "It was kind of hardÂ…when it's not who I am." Although public perception of her as a "dumb blonde" is sometimes frustrating, Hilton admits that she is at least partly responsible for what she calls a misconception. "I just say jokes but they think I'm seriousÂ…I think I kind of play up the image sometimes." Hilton was in the United Kingdom to promote her new reality game show, "Paris Hilton's British Best Friend," a follow-up to her hit MTV show, "Paris Hilton's My New BFF."
