2/8/2009 in Whitney Houston Rocks Pre-Grammy Salute to Clive Davis Sophie Duensing Clive Davis of Sony Music hosted a pre-Grammy Gala Saturday night to honor "Industry Icons." Although Davis hosted the event, the center of attention was the long absent Whitney Houston. Houston was chosen to sing a salute to the host at the industry event held in Beverly Hills. According to USA Today guests included Paul McCartney, Sly Stone, and Babyface. Babyface said of the event "We're just groupies tonight. We want to get pictures and autographs." Houston was the final performance of the night, finally taking stage at 12:30. She opened with "I Will Always Love You," and ending with a spirited dance mix of "I'm Every Woman" and "It's Not Right, But It's Okay." The diva wore a tight-fitting leopard print gown, large gold hoops and stiletto heels. According to USA Today although her voice was no longer at its prime, she sounded vocally fit and captured and exuberant audience throughout her short performance.
