4/28/2009 in The five remaining "American Idol" contestants sang songs from the era of the Rat Pack. Shaina Wizov The famous sounds of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the rest of the gang were brought to the stage on Tuesday night's Rat Pack themed-night. This week's mentor for the performers was Jamie Foxx, who, like host Ryan Seacrest said, "has been able to transcend the boundaries of the entertainment industry" just like the Rat Pack had done, according to *Rolling Stone*. Kris Allen started off the night with "The Way You Look Tonight" and completely blew away judges Randy, Kara and Paula. Simon, on the other hand, wasn't as impressed. Instead, Simon's praise went to Danny Gokey who sang "Come Rain or Shine," and Matt Giraud who sang "My Funny Valentine." The judges, Simon included, complimented Gokey on his "swagger" and confidence in his performance, and Simon told Giraud his was the only "believable, authentic song" of the night. Allison Iraheta turned up the blues on "Someone to Watch Over Me" and while Kara was sure that performance would land her in the finals, Simon wasn't as convinced. The show ended with another great performance from Adam Lambert, who took on "Feeling Good" and made quite an entrance onto the stage as he started off at the top of the lit-up staircase. Simon joked that after that entrance, Seacrest is not allowed to walk down those stairs anymore. Three weeks are left in the competition and with another elimination tonight, things are bound to get intense.
