6/23/2009 in Time Warner and Comcast are preparing to offer some shows online for subscribers. Nick DeSimone Time Warner Inc. has announced they are pairing with Comcast Corp. to offer some of their programming online to cable-TV subscribers, the Wall Street Journal reports. The program, known as "TV Everywhere," was announced by Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes and Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, saying that trials of its On Demand Online service would begin with programming from TBS and TNT being offered, FierceOnlineVideo.com reports. The service will be offered over the web to anyone who can verify that they belong to a pay-TV service through cable or satellite. Bewkes says that if the program is successful, it "will surpass user-generated content and will be the biggest thing in Internet video." As the trial expands, it is expected other networks will join in to offer online content. Roberts says the purpose of the initiative is about "giving our customers exponentially more free content, more choice and more HD programming online as well as on TV."
