7/13/2009 in Fresh from hosting the Tonys, the actor will emcee television's top awards show this fall. Tom Helberg Actor Neil Patrick Harris, who hosted the Tonys last month, will also play the same role at the Emmys. He had been rumored to have the job for about a week, CBS announced it Monday. The actor received much critical acclaim for his gig hosting the Tonys, theater's top awards show. "After having had such a hoot hosting the Tonys, I was thrilled to get the call about the prime-time Emmys," Harris told [People](http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20290971,00.html). He also said he was looking forward to "adding my own voice to it, while honoring the nominees and the entire year in television. But which voice to choose? I'm torn between gangsta, foppish Brit, and robot. Really proud of my robot. We'll see what happens on the night." Harris, 36, will also produce the CBS broadcast, which will air live, Sept. 20, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Harris currently plays playboy Barney Stinson on the CBS comedy, "How I Met Your Mother." He has received a Golden Globe nomination and two Emmy nominations for the role. Harris also appeared on Broadway in "Cabaret" and "Proof." First the Tonys, then the Emmys. Are the Oscars next?
