7/16/2009 in controversial movie means controversial name Robin Lee Sacha Baron Cohan's newest "Mockumentary" Bruno has caused controversy in the German education community since the film's debut last weekend. According to Asylum.com, Cohan's gay Austrian fashionista has become so synonymous with the name, that the name Bruno is being removed from German textbooks. Hamburg officials were reportedly so unhappy that the name was shared with another fictional character that was meant to teach kids about politics and democracy, that the have changed the name to Aydan. By changing the name to Aydan, a Turkish name, officials hope to appeal to Germany's quickly growing Muslim community, as well as separating themselves from Cohan's film. Cohan's character, Bruno, is a gay Austrian fashion reporter who travels to America in hopes of becoming famous. Bruno documents his strange, outrageous, and sometimes down-right raunchy encounters with Americans from California to Alabama while he attempts to make a name for himself. The movie hit the #1 spot last weekend by making over $30 million.
