8/6/2009 in Food bloggers divided on the success of Julie Powell, some even arguing a lack of respect for Julia Child. Natalie Gregory Bloggers are retaliating against Julie Powell, the famed blogger-turned-author responsible for a renewed love and fascination with Julia Child. Powell wrote the book "Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen," part of the inspiration for the new film "Julie and Julia" which hits theatres today. Monica Nista of ABC News reports that food bloggers are divided on the subject. Virginia Willis and Ivonne Milozzi expressed that for them, there seemed to be a lack of respect for Julia and a desire to simply perform a "stunt" and to gain celebrity status. Having started the blog in 2002, Child was aware of Powell's efforts and apparently did not think much of the pursuit. Powell need not worry. Other bloggers have come to her defense, stating that the abhorrence of Powell's success is mere jealousy. One thing seems clear: there is a rekindled love for Julia Child.
