Buju Banton's U.S. tour has been canceled due to protests by the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center.

A controversial reggae singer will not be touring the United States.  
  
Buju Banton's 1992 song, ["Boom Bye Bye"](http://www.jamaicancaves.org/boom-bye-bye-lyrics.html), suggested burning homosexuals "like an old tire wheel," and when his U.S. tour was announced, the [http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/31/arts/music/31arts-BUJUBANTONSH\_BRF.html >Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center organized a phone and letter writing campaign through the social networking Web site, Facebook.  
  
The tour's promoter AEG Live/Goldenvoice [http://music-mix.ew.com/2009/08/28/buju-banton/ >announced Thursday night that they would be canceling the tour which [http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music\_blog/2009/08/buju-bantons-october-... >included stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago, Las Vegas, Dallas, and Houston.
