9/7/2009 in The 'Lord of the Rings' prequel will finally begin filming. Sara Eason The trustees to J.R.R Tolkien's estate and HarperCollins had filed suit against the Hollywood studio over profits from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy in Feb. 2008. During which filming of the prequel, "The Hobbit", had come to a halt. Tolkien's trustees and former publishers felt that they deserved about $150 million in profits from the extremely successful trilogy based off Tolkien's books. "The trustees regret that legal action was necessary but are glad that this dispute has been settled on satisfactory terms that will allow the Tolkien Trust properly to pursue its charitable objectives." youngest son and heir of Tolkien's estate, Christopher Tolkien, states according to The New York Times. "The Hobbit" is expected to be huge hit that will be divided into two movies. They will be based on the 1937 book by Tolkien that follows the adventures of Bilbo Baggins. The movie will be directed by Guillermo del Toro, the man who made "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Hell Boy." The settlement's financial terms have not been released as of yet.
