9/14/2009 in Reviewers are under the belief that Leno's new show is exactly the same as the last show; the only difference is that it is being aired an hour and a half earlier TheCelebrityCafe.com Staff The debut episode of the highly anticipated "Jay Leno Show" aired on NBC last night in the coveted 10:00 PM EST time slot. Aside from a guest appearance that was made by Kanye West, who had been the talk of the entertainment world as a result of his bizarre and inappropriate actions at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, critics were not entertained by the show. Reviewers seem to be under the impression that it is the exact same type of show that Leno had previously hosted on late night television. USA Today's Robert Bianco went as far as to say that last night's premier episode was a "cut-rate, snooze-inducing, rehashed bore", which clearly illustrated his viewpoint that the show was eerily similar to his old one. While most critics seem to agree that West's segment was intriguing simply based on how controversial he is and that people were anticipating how sincere his inevitable public apology would be, they appear baffled by NBC's attempts over the past several months to promote "The Jay Leno Show" as an entirely different program in comparison to "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno". Prominent television critics such as Frazier Moore of The Associated Press, Alessandra Stanley of The New York Times and Mary McNamara of The Los Angeles Times shared a similar opinion about a lack of entertainment value.
