TheCelebrityCafe.com Staff Earlier this afternoon, President Barack Obama presented a Medal of Honor for the very first time during his presidency. The recipient of the Medal of Honor is the late Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti, whose heroic efforts to save a comrade in the midst of enemy fire were an optimal exemplification of his selflessness and bravery. According to the Associated Press, the ceremony was conducted in the East Room as President Obama stood alongside Jared Monti's parents, Janet and Paul. Monti lost his life during a firefight in June of 2006 when our soldiers were fighting Taliban forces. Pvt. Brian Bradbury had been shot and left out in the open during the battle. Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti utilized his instincts and his bravery to run into the line of fire to retrieve Bradbury and return him to safety in an attempt to save his life. His first two attempts were unsuccessful but he tried for a third time to save his fellow soldier when the Taliban tragically ended his life with a grenade explosion. The Associated Press is reporting that Monti had already received distinguished honors such as five Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, three National Defense Service Medals, a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
