10/8/2009 in Jim and Pam get married at Niagara Falls, their co-workers hook up and break up, and Jim accidentally reveals that Pam is pregnant to her conservative grandmother. Rachel Kolb Episode Summary: The episode opens with Pam telling her co-workers to avoid wearing perfume or eating strong-smelling food in front of her because her stomach is particularly sensitive from the pregnancy. Although people in general are annoyed with Pam, Dwight decides to take it a step further by peeling a hard-boiled egg at his desk. Pam throws up in her trash can, and Andy, who has a weak stomach, throws up. Soon, everyone in the office is losing their lunch. Disgusting? Yes. Hilarious? Absolutely. Michael decorates the back of his car with cans hanging off and "Going to a wedding" written across the back window. Pam tries to tell Michael that he is supposed to do that to their car, but Jim hushes her. Before leaving for the wedding, Jim and Pam sit the entire office down to discuss what they want and don't want at their wedding, and they remind people not to mention Pam's pregnancy because Pam's conservative grandmother doesn't know. People in the office prepare for the wedding in a variety of ways. Michael and Dwight cyber-stalk the women on the guest list so they can decide who they want to score with at the wedding. Kevin talks about how he will be dressing very stylishly and will be doing something with his disappearing hairline. Pam suggests to Jim that they should take mental pictures of the highlights of their wedding day. On the car ride down, Dwight unveils a really creepy CD that he made for Michael to play when he seduces a woman at the wedding. Instead of music, Dwight recorded himself talking about what a lucky lady she is to be in Michael's bed. They arrive at the hotel, and Michael finds out that he doesn't have a reservation. He begs everyone to let them stay with him, except of course Toby, and in a talking head, Michael compares himself to the Virgin Mary. Pam introduces Oscar and Kevin to her sister Penny, and Penny mistakes Kevin for Oscar's boyfriend. Oscar responds a little strongly, saying, "You thought I was dating him? Him?" Michael insists that he wants to give a toast, which nobody wants, but Michael tries to give one anyways. Luckily, Jim takes the floor and gives an awesome speech. Even Andy was moved to tears. Unfortunately, everything goes down the drain when Jim accidentally spills the beans that Pam is pregnant. Michael tries to save the situation but of course just makes it much, much worse by talking at length about condoms. Pam's grandma announces that she will not be coming to the wedding. Michael decides to try to convince the grandma to come to the wedding, and he wins her over by helping her turn off the TV in her hotel room. She is so confused by all the buttons! Also, Michael tells her that Jim and Pam are planning to name the child after her. The partying before the wedding doesn't quite go as planned. Angela trails Pam to make sure that she doesn't sneak off to Jim's room. Dwight drags Michael away from his good-looking date with the promise of twins, but they turn out to be male twins. Oops. In the final blow to the night before the wedding, Andy attempts the splits and tears his scrotum during a dance-off. To make things worse, Jim is out drinking with Michael and Dwight, so Pam is the only one sober enough to drive him to the hospital. The next morning, people wake up to some unexpected surprises. Kevin left his shoes out to be cleaned, and the house cleaners threw them away. Dwight scored with a bridesmaid named Isabelle, and he is surprisingly sweet until she leaves. After that, he calls her a country bumpkin and says that he hopes she doesn't think this is going anywhere. Michael acts extremely childish and pretends that he scored the night before, but when Dwight trash-talks Isabelle, he gets extremely defensive of her. At the wedding, Kevin shows up with a fantastically awful toupee. The new secretary gives her scarf to Andy so that his scrotum will not resting on the wooden pew. Meanwhile in her dressing room, Pam tears her veil on a nail, freaks out, and calls Jim. She is upset about her veil and everything that has gone wrong at the wedding. Jim, as always, thinks of a way to cheer her up by cutting off his own tie. Pam smiles, but she still complains about the drama amongst the guests, exclaiming, "This is supposed to be our wedding, so why did we invite all these people?" Jim gets an idea, and the cameras show Jim and Pam running off together away from the church. Everyone is whispering about whether the wedding is off, if they are having cold feet, or what is going on. Jim and Pam show up, though, and the whole dance party dances down the aisle to Chris Brown's "Forever," reenacting the famous YouTube video. Jim and Pam's co-workers in particular pull out some fantastic dance moves. During the song, however, the cameras show what happened when Jim and Pam disappeared. They ran off to one of the Niagara Falls cruise boats and got the captain to marry them. They have their perfect wedding on the boat, and they go back to the church ready to have the wedding full of problems. Bonus Gross-Out Moment: Do not drink the ice in the ice maker! Kevin has put his feet in them. And in a final twist, Michael gets laid, but the lucky lady is Pam's mom. That's right, Pam's mom. Think about that for a little while longer. Pam's mom slept with Michael. Wow. Final Thoughts: Jim and Pam's special day was an imperfect (and thus realistic) wedding, and "Niagara" was a fantastic episode. Fans of "The Office" have been waiting for Jim and Pam's wedding for a very long time, so expectations were high. The joy on Jim and Pam's faces when they snuck off to get married on Maid of the Mist reminded me why I love this show. Even though some would argue that "The Office" isn't the funniest show on TV, the writers and actors pull off moments that feel so honest and un-clichéd. "The Office" took the sitcom wedding (disasters strike, people hooking up/breaking up, guests getting drunk and making stupid decisions) and made it fresh.
