10/12/2009 in Billie and Zack go over dating rules (one is met with more success than the other) Natalie Gregory Last night marked episode three of Jenna Elfman's new show "Accidentally On Purpose." The premise revolves around Billie (Elfman) who dumps her dreamy boyfriend (Grant Show) after he doesn't propose and pursues a fling with a much younger man, Zack (Jon Foster), only to be pregnant five weeks later. Billie and Zack's relationship is, needless to say, rather complicated. He moves in with Billie but they aren't dating. Episode three showed Billie out on the town, and sure enough, a man asks for her number. She and Zack must therefore work out the dating agreement, which they both seem surprisingly okay with—until Billie meets rejection on her date (you know, that whole pregnancy thing). Unfortunately for her, she comes home to Zack making out on her couch. I found the real humor to be with Zack's friends, mostly because these boys are in their early 20's and revel in being disgusting. And having lived in San Francisco, on this score "Accidentally" is not too far off. There is a hilarious scene involving pot brownies where Billie and Zack confuse the hell out of Davis (Nicolas Wright). The show has promise, but the writing for Elfman could improve.
