12/7/2009 in Carrie Underwood is bringing back an old holiday television special to celebrate the holidays this season. Blakely Slater Carrie Underwood wants to bring some family holiday fun to television this season. The country music singer will host "An All-Star Holiday Special" on Fox on Monday, reports the [Associated Press](http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h_3CgBAUhM2a-rxg-UZC_StW77KQD9CDBFP81). She was excited that the show would be offering an innocent alternative to many other programs. "I think it's really great they're making a comeback because I think it's really good family programming," she said, "and nowadays it seems like every show is about, like, murder or police and people shooting each other." The special was a staple of variety show entertainment many years ago. Star guests such as the Mandrell sisters and Sonny and Cher frequented the stage. Underwood did some studying in the hopes of living up to her predecessors. "I remember a little bit of the Mandrell sisters and I have gone back and seen episodes of their show just to kind of, I don't know, get some ideas and kind of see how it's done from a master's perspective," Underwood said. Brad Paisley, David Cook, Ryan Seacrest and Neil Patrick Harris will also join Underwood for the two-hour special. The stars will celebrate the holidays with their songs, skits, and performances of holiday classics.
