12/7/2009 in Indie-rock supergroup featuring members of Dinosaur Jr., Cobra Verde and Witch release its debut album "Love and Desperation." Robyn Chelsea-Seifert Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis trades sonic guitar assaults for skins with his newly formed group Sweet Apple featuring members of Cobre Verde and Witch. As 2000 goes down as the supergroup forming decade, Mascis reconnected with his old friends and ex-band members after the unfortunate passing of Cobra Verde singer-guitarist John Petkovic mother. According to the bands press release, Petkovic got in his car and headed out. He found his way to New England and checked in with Witch bassist Dave Sweetapple and Mascis who suggested he start writing songs. "I tell people that I saved John's life by starting this band, but they don't believe me," Mascis said. After recruiting Cobra Verde guitarist Tim Parnin the four started working on the album, *Love and Desperation* in both Cleveland and Massachusetts. "I hadn't even played the guitar for months," Petkovic admits. "And then, out of the blues, there were all these songs just coming out." The record was mixed by the familiar faces of Dinosaur Jr. producer John Agnello and Don Depew. A video for the opening track, "Do You Remember," described as a driving rock anthem, is currently underway. Sweet Apple plans to tour and perform at the 2010 [South by Southwest](http://sxsw.com/home) March 12-21 (check listing for exact date) and will release its debut album *Love and Desperation* through Tee Pee records on March 30, 2010.
