The film is reportedly one of the most expensive movies ever made, completely surpassing the $200 million budget for "Titanic." Cameron said that he had the idea for the movie, which is about humans using alien avatars to explore foreign planets from the safety of a laboratory, back in 1995 but decided to wait until technology caught up with his vision.
