11/18/2005 in David Pepose James Mangold's (Identity) Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line opened in theatres November 18. The film documents the story of the rising star Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix, Gladiator), as he struggles with his inner demons, brooding with the trademark Cash glare like some sort of modern-day Hamlet. Legally Blonde's Reese Witherspoon plays singer June Carter, acting as a sunny, extroverted foil to the magnetic and moody Cash. Joaquin Phoenix particularly steals the show as Johnny Cash, both singing his own songs and mirroring the haunted demeanor of the legendary music icon on his road from the blackest depression to the light of redemption.
