Britney Spears explains why she drove her SUV with her infant son on her lap.

Pop singer Britney Spears was caught driving her car with her 16-week-old baby boy, Sean, sitting on her lap. Britney is defending her actions claiming that she did it was because of the paparazzi. According to People magazine, her bodyguard was riding in the passenger seat and baby Sean was in the back in a car seat. When her bodyguard got out of the car at Starbucks, she took Sean out of the car seat and put him in her lap. The "Oops I Did It Again" singer became nervous by the aggressive paparazzi and as soon as her bodyguard came back, she drove away. The X17 agency photographers who took the pictures told "Access Hollywood" that they were taken in a peaceful manner.Spears gave a statement to People magazine saying:Today I had a horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi while I was with my baby. Because of a recent incident when I was trapped in my car without my baby by a throng of paparazzi, I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger. I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us, and took photos of us which were sold to the media. I love my child and would do anything to protect him.
