Michelle Vaccaro Actress Maureen Stapleton died of chronic pulmonary disease Monday at her home in Lenox, Massachusetts. She was 80 years old. A triple threat, Stapleton was an award-winning actress on the big screen, small screen and in theater. She was nominated for four Oscars, winning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in 1981's "Red." She took home two Tony awards in 1951, one for her role in Tennessee Williams' "The Rose Tattoo" and the other for Neil Simon's "The Gingerbread Lady." Stapleton received six Emmy nominations throughout her career, winning once for "Among the Paths of Eden."
