7/12/2006 J. Rachel Anderson After Dana's death, an old fan favorite might be just what the show needs. Lesbians everywhere: you might want to sit down for this. Karina Lombard, better known as Marina, will appear on "The L Word" for at least one episode this season, according to TV Guide Online and AfterEllen.com. It is unknown exactly how long, some sources say one episode, some say two. Previously, "L Word" producers had said Marina was never coming back, while last month, Lombard answered more openly: "Everything happens in Hollywood." Lombard's character was written out of the show after one season, despite being a favorite of fans. Marina supposedly attempted suicide and was taken home to Italy, leaving her restaurant, The Planet, open for Kit to buy. Also appearing this season will be Marlee Matlin, who will play a deaf lesbian interested in Bette, and Cybill Shepherd, who will play the married president of Bette's graduate school who begins to question her sexuality. It sounds like Showtime is hoping to inject some life back into the show, which fans say has decreased in quality over the last two seasons.
