11/4/2006 in Ex-Death Row Records rapper charged with a felony. Sari N. Kent Calvin Broadus, also known as Snoop Dogg, was arrested Sept. 27 at a California airport after allegedly attempting to board a plane carrying a weapon. According to an [http://www.latimes.com](http://www.latimes.com "http://www.latimes.com"), Los Angeles Times article, "Rap singer and actor Snoop Dogg was charged Thursday with knowingly possessing a deadly weapon at John Wayne Airport in September, when a collapsible police baton was found in his computer bag...\[he\] would face up to three years in prison if found guilty of the felony charge." Broadus was at the Orange County Airport, with two of his bodyguards, boarding a flight to San Francisco when security personnel at the airport noticed the baton. "The rapper told authorities the baton was to be used as a prop in a video, a portion of which was going to be filmed in San Francisco," said Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Jim Amormino. "This is a bogus case. The D.A. knows that, Snoop knows that, and we're convinced a jury will come to the same conclusion," said Donald Etra, the rapper's attorney. This is not the entertainer's first run-in with the law in recent weeks. The [http://www.latimes.com](http://www.latimes.com "http://www.latimes.com") article went on to say, "The rapper was arrested last week at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a gun and transporting marijuana. He is free on $35,000 bond in that case and is to be arraigned Dec. 12." "I think, like most celebrities, there's extra focus on him. We're going to fight both of these cases very, very hard," Etra said.
